Nature of Work: The Coordinator of ASU 1101 First Year Experience provides oversight and leadership to the development and implementation of the university's first year experience course and academic instructional techniques. The Coordinator provides leadership and expertise to the development and instructional delivery of the university's first year experience course. The coordinator will work collaboratively with university stakeholders to review and develop course level outcomes and perform formative and summative assessments to determine achievement of those outcomes. The coordinator will be the subject matter expert in the development of the first-year experience content and will work with the university's instructional design team to ensure that the course provides interaction and engagement at all levels including student to faculty, student to student, and student to content. The Coordinator will be responsible for scheduling and staffing all first-year experience courses to meet the demands of incoming freshmen populations and for the training and development of first year experience instructors. The Coordinator will also be responsible for reviewing student assessment of first year courses including course evaluation results and other surveys as appropriate, assessing the effectiveness of the first-year course and providing annual assessments of the program with potential adjustments and enhancements to the Director of Transitional Studies and Academic Services. 
The Coordinator of ASU 1101 First Year Experience must have the ability to work collaboratively with diverse internal and external stakeholders, possess a passion for student success and development, be well organized, an effective communicator, and possess the ability to successfully implement processes and strategies in promotion of the university's student success mission.  
Training and Experience: *Bachelor's degree from a regionally accredited college of university required; Master's degree preferred. 
*Teaching experience in first year experience courses preferred. 
*Minimum of three years' experience working within higher education serving student populations. 
*Demonstrated ability to develop course content in alignment with stated learning outcomes. 
*Demonstrated ability to work cooperatively with key stakeholders (internal and external) to foster the spirit of engagement. 
*Demonstrated ability to develop effective programs and services. 
*Excellent communication skills. 
*Ability to balance multiple tasks and responsibilities simultaneously. 
*Must be student-centric and customer service oriented.  
Testing Requirements:  
Illustrative Examples of Work: This Coordinator of ASU 1101 First Year Experience is responsible for the oversight and facilitation of the university's first year experience course. Duties include, but are not limited to: 
*Develop and facilitate the implementation of strategies and processes to effectively develop and assess first year experience course learning outcomes. 
*Provide the expertise as subject matter expert for the development of the first-year experience course to align with and determine course learning outcomes and to ensure appropriate levels of student engagement. 
*Develop and perform formative assessments to determine the effectiveness of the first year experience course and facilitate adjustments as required. 
*Perform audits of first year student enrollment in the first year and provide results of the audits to advising in a timely manner so that students may be correctly registered with minimal negative impact. 
*Schedule and staff first year experience courses to meet the demands of incoming student populations. 
*Provide consistent professional development opportunities for first year experience instructors to include pedagogical and technological instructional methodologies. 
*Develop and promote a student culture that is focused on collaboration, contribution, excellent customer service, and a passion for student success. 
*Represent the university at national and state level first year experience meetings and conferences 
*Teach 3 sections of FYE per semester. 
*Perform other job-related duties as required.
