Nature of Work: Under the supervision of the Principal Investigator, the research coordinator will coordinate and execute a plan of action for STEM-based research implementation within the Dougherty Country Public Schools. The successful candidate will have an important role in performing laboratory experiments independently and supporting the ongoing educational outreach efforts of the ASU-NASA MUREP Aerospace Academy program. They must be able to apply biological, biochemical, computational and engineering knowledge to advance the aims of the project.  
Training and Experience: Bachelor's degree required (or masters preferred) in a STEM discipline, education, or related area; three or more years of job related experience. Three years of experience in program administration.  
Testing Requirements:  
Illustrative Examples of Work: *Perform standard and complex laboratory procedures and STEM-based techniques within the areas of chemistry, biology, engineering, and mathematics. 
*Collect, compile and analyze data. 
*Perform library research and literature review related to the aims of the research project. 
*Record and compile data on the result of such experiments. 
*Prepare reports and publications for dissemination. 
*Coordinate research activities and schedules; maintain research areas. 
*Conduct and operate Aerospace Academy research immersion program to disseminate STEM-based principles to the SW Georgia region of public schools. 
*Recruit participants for research program; conduct intake interviews. 
*Liaison with NASA, faculty, participants and community partners. 
*Provide technical support to and service to faculty and teachers of the program. 
*Complete data analysis of participants. 
*Design and perform experimental procedures/protocols for training of students that promote hands-on learning and team work. 
*Provide demonstrations of conducting of experiments as directed using sophisticated scientific software and tools. 
*Supervise student assistants and program curriculum. 
*Participate in meetings with PI to evaluate and interpret data and evaluate project progress in relation to stated goals and objectives. 
*Monitor the day-to-day activities of the research; attend program meeting as needed; Keep detailed logs of all work-related activities. 
*Ensure that all experimental procedures are carried out in compliance with applicable safety procedures; programmatic and fiscal operations are carried out according to the goals and objectives of the program and in accordance with established University policies and procedures. 
*Operate, calibrate and perform routine maintenance on specialized equipment; order necessary supplies and reagents; manage inventory logs. 
*Perform other job-related duties as assigned.
