Nature of Work: The mission of the Recreation and Intramural Sports Program will be to offer a wide variety of physical and competitive activities and encourage all students to take advantage of the opportunity to participate. By offering a comprehensive and diversified program, students will be provided with the opportunity to develop courage, sportsmanship, mental alertness and leadership qualities in a stimulating competitive or non-competitive atmosphere.  
Training and Experience: Bachelor's Degree required and at least 2 years of progressive and professional full-time experience in recreation and intramural sports (student internship and/or graduate assistantship work may be included as experience). Successful candidate must demonstrate the ability to make professional decisions for every day and emergency situations.  
Testing Requirements:  
Illustrative Examples of Work: Coordinating a comprehensive Recreational and Intramural Sports Program (men and women) for students to include: Promoting programs and services. Establishing short and long term goals. Planning policies for programs, patron services and relations, and managing equipment. Budgeting and accounting. Maintaining the day to day operations of the game room. Managing the check-out, use and maintenance of all equipment during hours of operation. Collecting and transmitting any fees due to damages. Supervising students' conduct according to University regulations. Supervising work study students. Determining an appropriate work schedule to ensure professional coverage of all events, including evening games and weekend activities. Enhancing the level of professional supervision during Intramural Sport activities. Evaluating and assessing programs or services. Providing on-site authority for Recreation and Intramural Sports activities. Assisting with the distribution of marketing products, on and off campus. Assisting with emergency situations and evacuations as they arise. Assisting with supervision of the 2nd Level of the New Student Center. Maintaining the day to day operations of the student fitness center and weight room. Responsible for Student/staff training, Student/staff scheduling, supervising and implementing policies and procedures. Acquiring and maintaining sponsorships, which aid in the Fitness and Recreation area. Assisting with the management of Summer Programs. Assisting with yearly leadership development training. Assisting with new student orientation as needed. Assisting with Audio visual (AV) needs. Performing other job-related duties as required.
