||IT Inventory Specialist
|Nature of Work:
||The IT Inventory Specialist is the central point of contact for all desktop computers, mobile devices and classroom technology assets at Albany State University. This position directly oversees all incoming IT assets to the University, properly inventories/tags items and deploys these technologies. This position will maintain the central IT inventory database and perform regular audits on equipment usage and location. University Faculty, Staff and Administration will work directly with this individual to quote and schedule technology upgrades. Technical Services staff work in a dynamic, fast-paced environment which provides services over the phone, through e-mail, in person and self-service.
|Training and Experience:
||*Associates degree or equivalent in relative work experience required.
*Sufficient experience to understand the basic principles relevant to the major duties of the position, usually associated with the completion of an apprenticeship/internship or having had a similar position for one to two years.
*Ability to update/manage databases.
*Ability to work nights and weekends is required.
|Illustrative Examples of Work:
||*Manage and inventory all University issued computers, tablets, mobile devices and printers.
*Complete inventory tasks such as internal transfers, manage serial numbers and run various reports.
*Coordinate inventory control functions including receiving inventory, accurately input data into the inventory system, ensure accuracy of inventory counts, implementation of inventory control methods and procedures.
*Ensure high-level process accuracy, and inventory procedure compliance.
*Work with the Warehouse staff to schedule IT deliveries and accurately accept orders.
*Work with Title III offices to meet and exceed their expectations of managing Title III technology assets.
*Maintain central database of all University inventoried IT assets.
*Maintain electronic asset sheets and enforce process.
*Perform routine audits of inventoried equipment to verify location and usage.
*Manage student assistants and utilize them for routine building audits.
*Advise on future IT purchases, particularly new technology, areas of need etc.
*Manage all desktop, mobile device and classroom technology life cycle replacement.
*Accurately record, update and document requests using the Samanage service desk.
*Install, image, configure and deploy all new desktops, mobile devices and printers on all campuses.
*Track issues throughout their life-span in the form of a ticket from initial submission to resolution.
*Utilize LANDesk management suite to support end users via remote functionality.
*Perform remote troubleshooting through diagnostic techniques and pertinent questions.
*Routinely follow up with customers to identify areas of improvement.
*Maintain best practices in inventory management and verify ITS staff follows.
*Identify and suggest possible improvements on procedures and processes.
*Supervise, schedule and train student workers as assigned.
*Perform other job-related duties as assigned.

||The work is typically performed by standing, walking, bending, crouching or sitting at a desk. The employee frequently lifts light and heavy objects (up to 50 lbs), climbs ladders and uses tools or equipment requiring a high degree of dexterity. The work is typically performed in an office environment.
