||Public Relations Specialist
|Nature of Work:
||This position is responsible for coordinating public relations functions for the university and is a direct report to the Special Assistant to the President for Marketing and Strategic Communications
|Training and Experience:
Writes news releases for distribution to media outlets.
Writes and manages content for all university communications channels, including brochures, news articles, flyers, websites, newsletters, magazines, manuals, letters, etc.
Writes social media content and manages all platforms.
Assists with the development of strategic talking points and communication plans.
Manages content for university marquees and vision screens.
Develops and maintains expert database for internal communications, web communications and media relations.
Manages news distribution and monitoring services.
Monitors local, regional and national media as it relates to Albany State University; maintains archives of all articles.
Coordinates media interviews; responds to media inquiries.
Supervises Office of University Communications interns.
Performs related duties.
Experience and education
A bachelor's degree in public relations, communications, journalism, English or other related discipline and three (3) years of directly related professional experience. Strong interpersonal and organizational skills required.
