Albany Community Together, Inc. (ACT!)
ACT! is a public-private economic action partnership established in 1997 and is an approved SBA micro-loan intermediary lender. ACT! is also a Certified Community Development Financial Institution (CDFI) through the U. S. Department of Treasury as well as an approved lender in the State Small Business Credit Initiative Direct Lending Program (SSBCI), also through the U. S. Department of Treasury and administered in Georgia by the State Department of Community Affairs (DCA).
ACT! provides financial assistance to small businesses who lack access to traditional sources of capital, i.e. banks. We often work in partnership with banks to meet the credit needs of small business owners. Our programs serve to close the financial gap, to make the business owner “whole” financially. We help our banking partners meet their customers’ financial needs by providing “gap funding”.
Since 2001 ACT! has assisted 113 businesses in creating 500 jobs and provided $6 million in loan funding while leveraging over $37 million in private funding, a 6.1:1 ratio, $6.10 of private funds for every public dollar loan and one job created for every $12,000 loaned. ACT! operates within 35 counties in Southwest and West Georgia serving small businesses in general along with underserved populations that include women and minorities.
