About Us
The Albany Symphony Association serves our community in a unique & positive way reaching a diverse and rich mix of racial, cultural and economic groups. We are commited to bring music out into the community through our educational programs such as the Linkup Concerts for middle schoolers to masters' classes for high school and college students. An orchestra in a live performance has some very complex things to convey. It illuminates human emotions for which words are inadequate. Musicians and orchestras are extraordinary treaures and Albany is fortunate to have a professional orchestra in our community. Symphonic music is a vital and evolving art form. It is not simply reprising works from past masters but provides opportunity for new and creative talents. We contribute to its future by commissioning and performing new works by contemporary American composers. The Albany Symphony Orchestra, was established in 1964 and is southwest Georgia's only fully professional symphony.
