The Scirocco Quartet was formed in 2010 by four woodwind members of the Albany Symphony: flutist Elizabeth Goode, oboist Susan Brashier, clarinetist Peter Geldrich, and bassoonist Shannon Lowe. The name, "Scirocco," means a warm tropical wind, which is appropriate for a woodwind group based in southern Georgia. Their repertoire is a mixture of original works for woodwind quartet and lively arrangements of other famous pieces.
