Walk to End Alzheimer's
Albany’s annual Alzheimer’s Association Walk to End Alzheimer’s will be held Saturday, Oct. 19, at Riverfront Park, downtown. Registration begins at 9 a.m., and the Walk starts at 10. Anyone interested may start a team, join a team, sign up as an individual walker or donate to the cause by visiting the website at www.georgiawalk.org and clicking on Albany. The Walk to End Alzheimer’s is more than a walk. It is an experience for hundreds of participants in the 35 counties served by the South Georgia Region to learn about Alzheimer's disease and help with this critical cause, from advocacy opportunities, the latest in Alzheimer’s research and clinical trial enrollment to support programs and services. Each walker will also join in a meaningful ceremony to honor those affected by Alzheimer's disease.
Alzheimer’s disease is a growing epidemic and is now the nation’s sixth leading cause of death. As baby boomers age, the number of individuals living with Alzheimer’s disease will rapidly escalate, increasing well beyond today’s estimated 5.4 million Americans living with Alzheimer’s. Anyone may call 1-800-242-3900 for more information on Alzheimer’s disease or the Walk. Donations may also be mailed to the Alzheimer’s Association, 225 Second St. E., Tifton, GA 31794
